Friends of the Rustburg Library

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Campbell County Library, Ruth Guthrie Chapter in Rustburg! We are dedicated to helping the Rustburg library with collections, programs, special needs, and special projects.

We are administered by a board of seven elected individuals and one staff representative. Our general membership is comprised of individuals like you who support and celebrate our mission by paying a small annual membership fee.

Our primary task is to support the library financially in whatever way is needed. In addition, we strive to contribute to a sense of community through offering various programs and special events.

Current free, open-to-the-public programs and projects include:

Needlework – every Tuesday at noon
Bring whatever you’re working on and join this lively group for creation, ideas and camaraderie. This group began meeting monthly and became popular so quickly that they now meet weekly. In addition to working on individual projects, the group as a whole has contributed to several charities.

Book Sale– accessible during library hours
Anyone who comes to the library is encouraged to donate or purchase gently used books. The Friends maintains an ongoing sale of these books in the foyer. Most books are priced at one dollar. From this sale, the Friends earns over $3,000 a year to give back to the library!

Display area
The Friends purchased and installed exhibit rails behind the main computers. We have hosted formal and informal exhibits there that provide global or local information or simply please the eye.

The Friends’ funding for all of the above comes entirely from annual membership fees and book sales. Our operating costs are minimal, and all our board members are volunteers. Therefore, the amount of money we make determines the amount we can give to the library.

How can you help?

  • Become a member:
    • Click here to complete the online application.
    • Membership fee is $5 per person or $10 per family
    • Dues can be paid using the Paypal button below

Your membership fee supports the library in countless ways. Memberships are not tax-deductible, however, donations (cash, books, and other materials), are tax-deductible. You may also make a donation with or without being a member. All support is greatly appreciated.  Please visit Paypal or stop by the library to make a donation.

Membership requires nothing more than payment of the annual fee. Some members choose to attend programs or volunteer in some fashion. Volunteer opportunities include serving on the board, helping with programs, fundraising, advocacy, or suggesting new ideas.
