Special Collections

Items are available at each of our locations. Here's how it works:
- Items can be checked out by anyone 18+ years old with a valid CCPLS, LPL, or BPLS card in good standing (under $5.00 in fines).
- Find what you want on our catalog, and note where it's located.
- Call or visit that branch to make sure it's available for you to pick up (no holds allowed). You must pick up from and return to their home branches; they will not be able to go in the courier system.
- When you're at the library, sign our waiver to become a Beyond Books Borrower (BBB). You'll only need to do this once.
- Items can be checked out for either one or two weeks! Overdue fines are $1.00/day.
Our "Instant Book Club" kits are perfect for your friend group! Depending on the title, we'll have anywhere from 4-10 books in a kit. Follow along with the supplied discussion questions or ask your own.
Each library has a collection curated by the Literacy program. Find tutor instructional materials, "high interest-low vocabulary" fiction books, DVDs, and more!
Our Seed Library at PHML in Brookneal is perfect for people who grow their own small gardens and just need a few seeds of each plant. Take what you'll use; bring back what you don't. Available during regular PHML hours.
The Seed Library wouldn't be possible without the support of kind community sponsors. Thank you!
Each CCPLS location has a Virginia Collection, comprised of reference books and materials about local history and genealogy. While each collection is different, there are hundreds of items available for your research needs.
These items cannot circulate, but patrons can access them when the libraries are open.

There is a poster within the book jacket for Mona's Eyes by Thomas Schlesser. We had to wrap the jacket for its protection but still wanted you to be able to see all the works featured on the poster (and within the book). Here are links to the pictures online, for your reference. Feel free to scan the QR code on the back of the book jacket as you're reading to find this list. We hope this helps!
