Adult Literacy Students
What is the Adult Literacy program?
The Adult Literacy program helps students improve their English speaking, writing, and reading skills. We will match you with a tutor who can work with you one-on-one to achieve your learning goals. You can meet with your tutor virtually or at one of our libraries, depending on your preference.
How do I become a student?
- Set up an appointment to meet us at the library. We will talk about your background and learning goals. We will also conduct an assessment of your skills so we can see where you can grow.
- After the meeting, you will go on a waiting list to be matched with a tutor. This is usually between 1-4 weeks.
- Once we have a tutor, we will meet with you both and set up meeting times and days. You will share your contact information with your new tutor in case one of you needs to change any meetings.
- You will start meeting with your tutor and learning! We prefer that you spend at least 6 months with your tutor, but some continue beyond that time.
*Your information will not be shared with anyone outside of the program. The information we collect is used in choosing materials and resources that will best help you meet your learning goals.
